HOMAK HS30103660 8-Gun Security Cabinet, Gloss Black CustomerReview

I was excided that this cabinet was in a whole lot better shape then the box it came in. I have set it up in one of our closets, and all my stuff fits just great. I used a magnetic knife holder that I installed on the back wall to hold my pistols. I’am a happy camper. The cabinet is really sturdy, and and it locks at four points, versus three for other cabinets of his type. I wish the shelf was bigger, all I could get up there was my ammo, but the magnet helped, also the two side bins that came with the cabinet helped with ammo.

This safe is like a steel locker with double locks. It is sturdy and heavy duty. The one issue I see is there is no handle to open the safe. If you unlock the top and bottom lock, you have no way to open the door unless you use the key in the lock to pull the door open! Very silly that there is not a handle or something. Also, the back of the safe is covered with the foam backing leaving no where to put the barrel stands. It comes ready to use and for 0.00 it is a good value.

Over the years, our junior gun club has had positive experiences with two Homak Gun security cabinets, so we decided to buy another, primarily to store club rifles and ammunition. The quality of safe, and the finish, locking system, etc., are adeguate for our situation and to be expected at this price. The safe works well to keep the curious kids at bay, but the safe won’t deter a serious theft attempt. Recommend other layers of security with this safe (place the safe in a secure, locked room, for example), and then don’t store expensive items in this safe. The adage that you don’t use a .00 lock to protect a 0 item applies here. The only problem we’ve encountered with the design and manufacture of this safe is that the racks installed inside of the safe have an adhesive backing that just don’t hold the racks in place. The plan is to attach them with screws through the back of the safe.

I needed something secure to separate the funds for my group that could also be used at fund raising events.

Pros: The box feels quite sturdy and I love the combination and key feature. It allows me to grant access to several persons I trust via the combination but once I lock it with the key, only myself (or another-as there are two keys) continue to have access.

Cons: It can only use the factory combination given. It would have been nice if I could change the combination for each event or to something I chose.

Overall: I think this is a great purchase
